Video
Collection on Pictures
So I have a couple questions regarding this dress.
1. First off, does anybody have ANY other pictures of her dress? I want this dress to be very accurate, but I'm stuck with bad quality screenshots from youtube. I looked, but I can't find any at all. So if anyone has more, it would be very much appreciated! <3
2. Material? Usually, I just use Kono cotton (or something like that) But I haven't made very many costumes, or a dress for the matter, so I was wondering what kind of material would be "flattering" considering I am not as tiny as Misa
3. Color? The videos I've watched, the dress seems like a dark grey; not a solid black. But for some reason it's in my mind that the dress was a dark burgandy or a wine color on the episode that I watched a TV a while ago? I dunno..
4. Petticoat? This is supposed to be some Gothic Lolita style, but I really don't want to have to buy a $50 petticoat. Can I make it "bell poofy" by other means? Actually, looking at it again, it's not that poofy, but I would like a little poof. ^^ I'm thinking that it would make my legs and waist appear slimmer. Would stiff material used for collars be acceptable?
I think that's it.. Any other tips or ideas would be helpful as well.

Okay... so... I don't know a lot about sewing, but I'll do my best... For the kind of costume you're making (i.e. not a very form-fitting one) something like Kono cotton would be fine, I think. I've always just used whatever material was the cheapest, though, so I could be completely wrong. I think that the material used for collars would be fine, but maybe not very comfortable. Might I suggest making a small hoop skirt/panier? www.marquise.de/en/1700/howto/frauen/paniers.shtml There's a tutorial on how to make different shaped hoop skirts there- I've not used it, but someone e-mailed me the link a while back. On the rest, I'm as lost as you are! My apologies. xD I'll keep an eye out for anything that might help though.

That tut looks very complicated. @.@
Thank you though.
I'm just going to have to put this costume off for another time, though.. >_<
I hope I can get roof access to another con.

I was browsing cosplay.com and I found someone who cosplayed that dress. Perhaps the photos there will help you at all?

Wow, thanks!
I couldn't find a picture when I was looking. >< Except this one girl.. but she just used a gothic lolita dress that was purchased. It only looked similar.
Oki. I've decided that this will be for Tekko. I can't put it off. *o*
