I know this post is ancient, but for anyone in the future who may be looking to this thread for answers, please at least consider this: Do not bind with ace bandages. Seriously, don't. Ever. I'm not a cosplayer, but as an FtM trans* person, I know a bit about binding. Ace bandages are not meant for binding, they are meant for compression! The pressure over your chest will be uneven, they can damage and crack your ribs, and they will interfere with your breathing. Your ribcage is meant to expand when you breathe. For this reason, actual binders are made of an elastic material, to allow for this expansion. However, ace bandages contract when you breathe, which just makes it increasingly harder to breathe. If you need to bind, the best method is the use of a professional binder, such as those sold by the company gc2b. Remember, never bind for more than eight hours, and never bind when you're asleep.
