Hooray for my first time starting a thread on O_Orly Cosplay! So far, I've only replied O.o; Oh well. Anyway ^^ Hi. I'm going to need some serious help with a costume that I'm starting to work on. For those of you who have played the video game, Tales of Symphonia (The first one. D: I don't like the second.), I am cosplaying Colette Brunel. Of course, her costume is needlessly complicated, therefore, I will be needing some help ._. I have until AX 09 to make all of this, so time is not an issue (=O That's just under six months!)
Here is a good reference picture (Sorry. It's a tad big.):
Oh good! It downsized~! ^^ ♥ that makes things easier. Anywho, I'm looking for various patterns and techniques. Another thing is, Colette has some wings, which I am thinking about making by hand, since they are very intricate.
That's a good drawing of them. I have some ideas of how to make them, but I'm not sure yet. The thing about this costume is - everything has to match. Therefore, everything must be the same material. Because of this, I'm going to have to make the entire costume with wonderful things called plain fabric and a sewing machine. D: Oh well. At least I have time to do it. As for the hair, I could use my natural hair, but I would really rather not .-. my hair isn't long enough, light enough, and I don't want to get my bangs cut any shorter. I've almost finished growing them out for when I cosplayed Misa last year D: and getting rid of my progress would be no fun ._. Anyway, so here's the wig I was planning to buy. [CLICK HERE PLEASE =D]
It wont need too much styling, which is a relief ^^ Another thing is her weapons, chakrams.
The round circle things. Yeah O~O They're a bit hard to see. Anyway, they have a slight pattern on them. I was wondering how to make them, really. If anyone has any ideas for anything for this costume, pleeease let me know ._.;; I'm confused ^^;

For Colette's chakrams, you could probably just use some sort of model magic-esque material, and if you put in the design on them you could kinda carve it into the material before you bake it.
I don't know if the cape thing is attached to her dress or not, you could always make the dress and then put the cape over it?

Oh wow! That's a really good idea. O.o I should definitely do that.
Also, for the cape. xD Yep! I believe it's separate from the dress, which is a wonderful relief, and makes it a lot easier to use. It might fall down occasionally, so I'm hoping i get all the sizing right .-.;
To avoid double posting, I'm just going to add on to this thread. I got some in-progress photos, and I purchased the wig up there before, but it's not here yet, given that I just bought it today. Anyway, yeah. I have the base dress almost done. I just have to do some shaping and a lot of interfacing, as well as the trim. Just thought I'd put up the very basics of what I have.
That's me positioning the dress right. Wonderful picture, I know. Ignore my hair, too =P I've been a lazy butt and I haven't done anything with it recently.
And there it is! The VERY basics of the dress. xD It may look shapeless and crappy right now, but I swear, it's only just in the beginning stages! I sewed it myself, which should count for something. The sleeves are going to be fixed up, as well as the middle section and the bottom of the dress. The neckline to almost the very bottom of the dress is going to have a white zipper, which will be covered by periwinkle trim.
Ignore how terrible I look in that photo XD I hadn't brushed my hair, nor had I any make up on that day, so please avert your eyes from the facial area, and just look at what I've done so far for the costume. Yeah xD Anyway, now, the pattern for my vest is almost done, and I'm almost ready to cut and start working with trim again. D: fun. Anywya, yeah. That's all for now ♥
But yeah. That's all for now. I'll post better pictures when I get more done.
